August 2017 Release: Light of the World

Hello, friends!  Welcome to the August 2017 Release for the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop!  We have 5 fabulous  new sets to share this month and they cover MANY occasions!  I just know you will LOVE all the creations that my team and I have to share, as well!  Today's set is called...

Light of the World

And here is my card~

Once again, I used Photoshop to create the focal panel for this card. The Light of the World image was placed on top of some colored digital work and the sentiment (also from the Light of the World set) was given a yellow shadow to help it POP! A few gold sequins and some gold glitter on the yellow "light" in the bulb add more shine and texture. I love it! What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

The banners located on the top of the card makes for a
perfect and minimal embellishment.

The white background allows the 'Fabulous Flowers' to become center stage.
Such a pretty digi stamp set. 

The brown monochromatic color scheme is very suited for fall.
Nothing sparkly here but as you will see there is a bit of luster!

MHK Designer Inspiration: Rocky

    Light of the World will be the next new set released by MHK Designs this month, so I thought I'd show you something you could make with it.

     Using the plain lamp from this set I made a circle of them with my photo package, printed them and then cut them out. They have been coloured with alcohol markers and stretched with a ball tool to resemble petals on a flower.
     Using a background from Damsel In Distress with foliage helps make this look even more flower like, along with layering two lamp circles on foam pads. The centre was die cut and coloured before removing the die to get a white, even border, this is also mounted on foam pads.
     The lamp butterfly is two large lamps and two small, all lamp bases are overlapped to get the body. With the addition of a flower stamen for antennae the butterfly, once coloured and trimmed, is complete, there are foam pads under its wings.

August 2017 Release: Christmas Frames

Hello, friends!  Welcome to the August 2017 Release for the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop!  We have 5 fabulous  new sets to share this month and they cover MANY occasions!  I just know you will LOVE all the creations that my team and I have to share, as well!  Today's set is called...

Christmas Frames

 

And here is my card~

I used Photoshop to create the focal panel for this card. The Christmas Frames image and sentiment went perfectly with some "carpet" made with paper from the Deck the Halls digital paper pack! I added some rhinestones, glitter gel pen (candle flames) and Glaze gel pen (the heart in the sentiment) as finishing touches. The focal panel was then matted and added to a card base made with paper from the Simply Seasonal digital paper pack. What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Designer Inspiration: Judy

Hello there!

It's Judy here sharing my inspiration for this month!

I created a Thank You card.

This was a pretty quick and easy project.

I used the floral image from

Fabulous Flowers

and the sentiment is from

Thankful Thoughts.

I started with a kraft card base.

The image was colored with pencils.

I matted the image with ivory card stock.

A doily was place behind the image.

I printed the sentiment and matted.

August Challenge

Hi, friends!  Happy August!  Before we get started with this month's challenge, I wanted to remind your that August is a release month!  Our posts for the release will always be on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th on release months (February, April, June, August, and October), and I hope to be able to share a video like this each month!

Our challenge runs from the 1st of the month until the last day of the month.
